The music that I’ve grown up listening to has had a tremendous formative impact on my emotional constitution and worldview. It has saved me from falling into chasms, and brought me closer to finding peace within myself. It only makes sense for me to pay this forward. I hope to create emotionally resonant music that is capable, however slightly, of breaking through alienation and our collective inability to communicate effectively as a species.

We live surrounded by technology that we don’t understand. I want to dive deeper into understanding some of the core bits and pieces that are paramount to the lives we lead - web browsers and databases; how they store and present information, and interact with each other in different contexts. I also hope to learn someday the dense scaffolding of material and systems that make it possible for these technologies to work almost seamlessly.

I want to meditate on the idea that computer code is an expressive literary medium and carries with it an aesthetic. I would love to explore what we can do with code besides propping up elaborate systems of automated bureaucracy that wedges itself between people.

I want to pay closer attention to the food that is made and consumed around me. There is much to be learned about the geography, climate, economics and cultures of the world through its people’s relationship with food. Like music, food continues to have a profound impact on my physical and emotional being, and so it only makes sense for me to explore all the pieces that make this possible.

While there is no such thing as ethical consumption, I believe that consuming less will get us out of this self-perpetuating spiral of destroying the planet and society at the behest of our desires. To that end, I want to work towards a world where we spend more time and energy building things that can be repaired and reused, and discourage viewing material excesses as a sign of prosperity.
